Habanero is a resto-bar and brewery serving Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine, the first of its kind in Goa, situated in the main tourist district of Baga. Launched as the brand's offering in a fourth city (after Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad), Habanero sets a casual, lively atmosphere to catch up with friends and family, over food, music, games and entertainment.

Continuing the founders' culinary vision of offering fresh and authentic Mexican American cuisine, Habanero has opened its doors in the heart of the action in Baga.

Set in a spacious garden-style venue, the place comes alive through the day and peaks every night as the ambient and mood lighting enhance the interiors, the graffiti and vertical planters in the periphery. Featuring both indoor and outdoor dining areas under lush canopy, guests can choose to unwind on picnic tables, or sit in a more private space on the balcony overlooking the garden.

Along with a central open bar, a performance stage and the brewery in the background, Habanero has a lot to offer as the Goan experience.

Habanero brings a sense of freshness to its food. All the ingredients used in the sauces at Habanero are either sourced locally or imported.

The Habanero Goa menu includes everything we in India have come to love about Tex-Mex cuisine like nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos and enchiladas. Choose from amongst seafood, meat and vegetarian options. The menu also has a kids' section with smaller bites like burger sliders and an India-Mex section for those who prefer tastes from closer to home.

You can also choose from a wide variety of light bites like the Holy Guacamole, which is made fresh at your table and served with homemade 100% corn chips. The handmade Jalapeno Poppers, or the Macho Nachos that come in mini or ‘macho’ sizes, are other light favourites. For other tasty options, you could try the Habanero Fiesta Salad, which is accompanied by cheese Quesadilla triangles, or the Mexican Burger. You may also choose to customise your whole meal from their special 'Build Your Own' menu.

Habanero features two lively bars serving a plethora of Mexican inspired concoctions, topped by an expert arsonist bartender.  Sip on signature cocktails like the Amaretto flavoured Rock Lobster, the signature beer based margarita - Beeritas, and the El Chingon Pomegranate Margarita, to begin with. Or, drink up any of the beer and cocktail pitchers available.

The highlight, however, is North Goa's first microbrewery to brew fresh beer with hops and wheat) launched in the summer of 2017. The beers are created with natural ingredients, traditional cold processes and recipes that reflect creativity. Guests can choose from Susegado Dorado (India Pale Ale), which is a golden ale following the recipe created on the ships en route from England to India. Strong hops character with a satisfyingly bitter finish with a 5 % alcohol by volume (abv). The second is Susegado Patrao (Vanilla Porter), a chocolate and caramel malt, perfectly complemented by vanilla notes in this modern interpretation of an old London classic. It’s a light-bodied dark beer with a 4.8 % abv. The third brew is timely since it’s mango season. Susegado Trigo (Mango Wheat Beer) is Habanero’s own take on the ever-popular wheat beer, with sharpness from the wheat malt that is mellowed with rich Alphonso mango. Perpetual tropical summer in a glass at 4.5 % abv.
INR 165 per pint, and INR 600 per pitcher

In keeping the entertainment alive, Habanero has events lined up through the week. Listen to retro and contemporary Bollywood on Wednesday nights. Every Friday, Chilli Vibes nights celebrates the best Goan live music acts.  Eat your heart out on Sunday during Fiesta de Brunch, while enjoying sweet sounds by Goa's well known songstress, Joanne Fernandes.

Habanero's Goa outlet is a franchise owned by a brother-sister duo - Rohan Ghotage and Pooja Ghotage. Their first venture into the food and beverage industry, this opportunity chanced upon them via alumni forums on social media. They too share similar interests with Habanero's founders who wanted to fill a void in the local market.

Rohan is an electronics engineer and holds a MBA. He is a serial entrepreneur who founded Reliserve, a company that provides logistics and supply chain solutions to the international trade community. Pooja is an electronics engineer too, who, prior to this, has had stints with Deloitte as a consultant, and headed the Marketing Department at a Bombay based startup called Super.

After soaking up the culture and flavours along the American southwest and the Mexican border for several years, Griffith David and Elizabeth Bowen-David created Habanero, back in late 2011 to realise their desire to share authentic Tex-Mex cuisine in Bangalore. Now, six years and three cities later (Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad), they bring the same experience to the shores of Goa.

Chef Dan Durkin is the curator of the Tex-Mex menu at Habanero across all its outlets. His love for Mexican cuisine comes from his significant time spent in the Yucatan peninsula during his youth. In his 15 years' background in delivering top dining experiences across Asia, he’s worked with top US chefs, running multiple concepts in Singapore like Brewerkz & Cafe Iguana, and as F&B Director of Asia’s top members' clubs. Based in Bangalore, he is the COO of Habanero.
