THE PLACE
PHILOSOPHY
The boutique is housed in a cottage in a Heritage Conservation Area in Panjim. The intention was to create a space within the premises in harmony with the surrounding that exudes the charm of the colonial era. This additionally filled the need gap of a one-stop-shop for home linen at reasonable prices.
BOUTIQUE
The Linen Shoppe is part of a neighbourhood opposite Kala Academy, Panjim. With ample parking space in a quiet setting, the air conditioned boutique presents a shopping experience within warm interiors. Collections present customers with various linen and accessories across thematic sections in well laid out shelves for bed, bath, table and kitchen.
CHRISTMAS LINEN
The Linen Shoppe stocks an exclusive collection of home linen where traditional fabric and technique meets contemporary style. Most of the home linen and accessories are embellished with embroidery, lace; 'Kalamkari' and 'Ikat' prints. Products are created adhering to high quality standards and to cater to European styles. One may find crochet runners, doilies, 'damask' tablecloth; and handcrafted items such as Jaipiuri bed covers, gudris, cushion covers with patch work, cut work and Zari. Table and kitchen accessories like bottle bags, tea cosies, hand painted napkin rings, Pao bags, runners and aprons are popular with tourists.
The brand is famously known for its Christmas collection, which is also available throughout the year on popular demand. Every season, new collections are launched with specific themes as early as mid-November, with the Christmas Linen Hamper being the highlight.
THEIR STORY
The Linen Shoppe was founded by Goan couple Agnelo and Patricia Pinto in 1995. The business initially was wholesale supplies of linen for hotels and restaurants which began in 1989 as Karma Intext and later upgraded to an exclusive boutique for home linen and accessories.
Patricia has been deeply involved with environment, social issues and community development. Arising from her passion for the arts and crafts, she conceptualises most of the collections available at the boutique. Agnelo, a civil engineer by profession, manages the operations and marketing of their well sought after brand. Their twin sons Karl and Mark look after other aspects of the business.
