Anjuna Beach is one of the last strongholds of the original hippies who arrived on these sandy shores in the late 60s (some of whom have stayed on). Anjuna today still attracts a steady crowd of urban nomads, or the modern-day hippie who make this town their home during the winter season, as well a large number of student backpackers and young vacationers. Trance parties still rage on this beach, but wind down quite early into the night. The beach also offers many great beach shack and, its famous weekly flea market.

Baga Beach may arguably be one Goa's most popular beaches that teams with tourists practically all year round. The beach is located 9 kilometers from Mapusa (16 kilometers from Panaji) and ends where Calangute begins. The word Calangute is said to be derived from the Konkani word- 'Koli-gutti', which means land of fishermen. Others have ascribed it to the vernacular word “Kalyangutti” (village of art) or “Konvallo-ghott “ (strong pit of the coconut tree). Once a peaceful fishing village and a mainstay for the hippies in the 60s, Calangute beach is now easily the most popular tourist destination in Goa. Constructed by the Bijapur Sultanate in the 15th century, Old Goa Velha Goa (Velha translates to "old" in Portuguese) served as the capital of Portuguese India from the 16th century until its abandonment in the 18th century due to a massive plague. The remains of the city are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Panjim or Panaji , the “Land that never floods” is located on the left bank of the Mandovi River, piled up against terraced hills, a jumble of concrete buildings with whimsical balconies and red-tiled roofs, bleached clean churches and a riverside promenade, with red-roofed houses built in Latin style. It also has modern houses, well laid gardens, statues and avenues lined with gulmohar, acacia and other trees. The Baroque church of the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception located overlooking the main square known as Praça da Igreja, pretty villas, cobbled streets and interesting buildings give Panaji a Portuguese ambience.

Arvalem Caves, also known as the " The Pandavas Cave", their existence has been traced to the 7th century AD. One of the cave’s five compartments houses a Shiva linga.

Named after Dr. Salim Ali, India's most celebrated ornithologist, this picturesque sanctuary encompasses a modest area of 1.78 sq. kms. of mangroves vegetation interspersed with tributaries and inland streams. Located on the south-western tip of Chorao Island on the Mandovi River, this reserve is home to several species of local as well as migratory birds.
