Ideally located away from the hustle of Goa’s tourist crowds, but a short drive away from Candolim’s buzzing streets, Sol de Goa sits on a quiet road in Nerul with a view of the Sinquerim River. The hotel prides itself on its excellent service and for providing a-home-away-from-home hospitality.
Sol de Goa is a lifestyle hotel that combines Goan-Portuguese heritage with refined cosmopolitan flair. The property houses twenty-one guestrooms and suites, a villa, a bar+bistro and two swimming pools - the original pool located in the centre of the hotel’s main courtyard and a newly built infinity pool with a deck terrace overlooking the historic Candolim Church.
Sol de Goa accommodates guests in fifteen well-appointed rooms, four suites and two deluxe suites, most of them offering scenic river or paddy field views. Designed around a courtyard, Sol de Goa is decked in vibrant colours and new artwork while still boasting the property’s original four-poster beds, antique cupboards and framed historic photogravures and mezzotints of the Portuguese-era trading ports that line the walls.
Guests of Sol de Goa may indulge in room service from the in-house bistro, or enjoy their meals poolside by one of the two swimming pools; spa services, designer bath products, soft high thread-count natural linens and enchanting tropical outdoor spaces.

Founded in 2010 as The Sol, this charming property was conceived by Suraj Morajkar as his dream project. Sol de Goa was formerly known as The Sofala and The Sol. The hotel is owned and managed by Sun Leisure (India) Pvt. Ltd., a sister concern company of Sun Estates Developers, an acclaimed developer of residential, commercial and hospitality properties in North Goa.
Arvind D’Souza was the architect of the project, while the interiors were designed by India’s renowned fashion designer, Tarun Tahiliani. In 2012, the management of the hotel was taken over by Boston East India Hotels; The Sol was rebranded as" The Sofala" and made a part of the Troca Collection.
Originally conceived as 4 town houses, Sol de Goa exudes a charming residential ambiance while boasting all the comforts of a modern luxury hotel. For Suraj Morajkar the hotel was his dream project. “ I wanted to create a space full of luxury and warmth that makes guests experience the atmosphere and charm of Old Goa. The hotel is inspired by an age when you could hear the strum of a guitar on a quiet night, and homes were filled with the sounds of clinking glasses and conversation.”
"Walking into Sol de Goa lifts my spirits," says Tarun. "We created Sol de Goa as a Goan heritage design fused with delicious luxury that stares through the courtyard into the starlit sky with the palms swaying over the emerald pool! Personalised service and warmth and the zen of the paddy fields."
