The story of Rock Water Resorts and Sporting Heroes Rocks is one about two friends.

Sporting Heroes has its humble roots in Arambol in 2007, where it began as a sports bar and venture between brothers, a vision of globally trained F&B expert and Goan native, Johan Farreira. John gained his experience from Dubai’s Planet Hollywood, Ibiza, Brazil and on international cruise ships, working behind bars in supervisory positions as well as managing kitchens. John retuned to India to head a bartending training program and soon returned to his home in Goa. Following the opening of the Arambol bar in 2007, John additionally founded a popular Pizza Stop in Siolim in 2010. In 2012, John relinquished his share in the Arambol bar to open the Morjim location in partnership with his friend and long-time patron of the Sporting Heroes Arambol, Ashish Joshi.

Ashish Joshi is a Captain in the Merchant Navy who had been visiting Goa since 1992 and had fallen in love with India’s beloved beach State. Ashish had been exploring prospects to set-up a base in Goa with his Ukrainian wife who hails from a management background, and with whom he seeked to share his passion for hospitality. Ashish who used to regularly patronage the Sporting Heroes in Arambol had befriended the F&B owner, John, and upon learning of his friend’s desire to begin his business afresh, seized the opportunity and thus, Rock Water Resorts and Sporting Heroes Rocks was born in Morjim shortly thereafter.

John manages every detail of the restaurant and bar, and regularly invites chefs from Dubai to add their specialities to the menu. While Ashish and his wife oversee the operations of the accommodations, with Ashish personally managing every aspect of the resort's construction.
