THE PLACE
Peeping out of the buzzing main lane of Little Vagator, a relatively modest looking Fusion surprises you with its soft, homely charm complete with comfy seating, gleeful staff and a beautiful garden that is Piter’s (the partner) pride.
This open garden restaurant is divided into two levels of dining area. The upper level is largely home-style table seating, cleverly placed to ensure the privacy of each table. On the lower level, under the thatched roof, you find a more laid-back scene of close-set, low-lying tables and warm rugs that makes you want to curl your toes and snuggle up to the friendly house kitten, who pays you a visit at least once through the meal. A personalized playlist, soft olive lighting and swaying plants all add a dreamy glow to your food experience. We like the corner bed on the upper level right under the trees.
THE FUSION FLAIR
THE FOOD
Genuine, home-made Mediterranean cuisine, from authentic Lebanese and classic Italian style pizza to Turkish borekas and even an Israeli version of the schnitzel....Nirav (the partner) insists on premium quality of base ingredients, importing them if necessary. Starters like hummus, babaghanoush, tahina and matboha are authentic and magically find a way to every table. The much raved about fusion thali is a mix of five starters with pita and salad, bursting with taste and health; a real treat for vegetarians! Try their classical Italian wood oven pizzas, a favourite with the restaurant’s regulars. We recommend Ortolana with fresh ruccola, spinach, and cheese for the suave and Napoletana with anchovies and oregano for the saucy.
If you’re not in the mood for a pizza, dig into the steaks or grills of fresh sea-food and meat that come with a more than generous helping of sides (another Nirav specilaity) to make you one full happy plate. The roast chicken that is a house speciality is cooked for three hours – resulting in soft tender meat, full of flavour. Vegetarians can opt from various tofu and paneer dishes, favourites included paneer barbeque and tofu coconut curry.
Desserts include the chocolate soufflé, a warm chocolate cake with a molten chocolate centre, panna cotta that thankfully uses fresh strawberry sauce, chocolate coconut cake and other specials that are added daily. And the perfect ending to a hearty meal, the Fusion tea, a must have for tea lovers, it is a secret blend of herbs and spices and for the coffee lovers, try a Nirav coffee specially blended by him.
THE HUTS
In addition to the restauarnt, Fusion offers two independent hut accommodations with all the mod-cons required for a comfortable stay, with the added benefit of a hearty Fusion breakfast to quick start your day.
THE STORY
Nirav, the Israeli and Piter, the Goan are the Fusion duo who started off small with this beautiful property in 2004. Over the years, the dramatically restaurant has slowly evolved into what it is today, with Piter growing his garden from scratch to Nirav altering every dish to near perfection. Their love to host people gave rise to the Fusion vision, where people could experience a home outside of home, unwind, enjoy the music, share some love and savour every bit of the Mediterranean.. You will always find Piter or Nirav around making sure everything is as well as it can be...
