Ciao Bella Restaurant

  • EAT / European & Mediterranean

Located on a calm road in Assagao, Ciao Bella prides itself on serving authentic Italian food. The décor is charming and romantic, and the ambiance, relaxed and inviting. The menu lists appetizing dishes with many made from ingredients imported directly from Italy. For good food and a friendly and sociable atmosphere, make an evening of treating your taste buds and making new friends.

Though only recent on the culinary scene, Ciao Bella has already earned itself a loyal and returning customer following. Some even go there alone to eat; because they know that they can enjoy a lovely dinner and meet like minded people through their appreciation of quality food.

Run by two Italians, the concept of the restaurant was to only serve traditionally-made dishes. Offering a true and delicious taste of the Mediterranean, the dining experience is complemented by the simple, yet beautifully decorated space. Soft music plays throughout the evening and there is a choice of four separate dining areas. With a white and wooden colour scheme, curtains drape exposed beams around this open plan restaurant. The tables are quite impressive to the eye, with some tops being tree trunk slices with a log as a base, whilst in another area; others give a stylish café look with a similar table top but with twisted cast iron legs. Alternatively, you may choose to eat on the small terrace or have a bite to eat and enjoy a glass of wine in the chill out area in the section at the back of the restaurant.
The restaurant seats approximately 60 and is open from 6.30pm onwards.

Having chosen a specific combination of dishes, Ciao Bella’s menu is relatively small, but does not disappoint in the least. This is most definitely a case of quality over quantity. Many ingredients were brought to Goa by the owners directly from Italy, thus ensuring authentic and rich flavours going into their dishes. The restaurant offers a taste of flavours direct from Italy and as soon as you are seated, you are served a small plate of  '“compliments of the chef” just to tickle your taste buds.
The food is inspired from recipes well known to the regions of Sicily, Florence and the south of Italy. Try their homemade Sage & Butter Ravioli and Black Tagliatelle with Salmon, delicious Seafood Pasta and the interesting Chocolate Pasta with Gorgonzola. The chefs use an excellent mozzarella for the Caprese Salad and have freshly marinated sardines. The dishes are fresh and beautifully presented and there are always innovative 'specials' to tempt you away from the A La Carte Menu. And to finish, indulge in one of their delicious desserts, such as the panacotta and crème brulée.
This is the place where people who travel a lot and that are looking for real Italian food come to eat.

Ciao Bella restaurant has received coverage in several media over the years.

Ciao Bella is run by a lovely and friendly couple, Simona and Mario. Simona gained her experience through working in a number of Italian restaurants around Europe and has been a frequent visitor to Goa for many years. Having made a home for themselves in Goa, the couple bought a plot of land and built the restaurant from ‘the ground up’ and into what it has become today and to their very specifications and liking. Their goal was to bring the flavours of pure Italian food as they know it to Goa.
As a relatively recent addition to the bustling Goan restaurant scene, the restaurant has been open since May 2012, with much success. Patrons include visitors from Bangalore, Delhi and Bombay, who will have made advance bookings to ensure a table.
